LA BOITE A FURSY VIVE LA GREVE-1901
After the early stages in the cabarets of the mid nineties, the revue comes into its own and meets with success. Fursy co-authors several shows with his friend Leon Nunes, manager of La Cigale and even stages some limited performances in his cabaret, sticking very closely to current affairs. In February of 1901, the seamstresses’ strike provides him with an idea for his revue. On February 15, they demonstrate on the Rue de la Paix, which has been cordoned off by the police and this scene most likely inspires Grijn. A pseudo-seamstress, with a very deep decollete, is surrounded by flabbergasted policemen, eyes bulging and tongues hanging out.
